CONTRIBUTIONS, GRANTS, REFUNDS – WHAT CAN ACTUALLY BE USED TO REIMBURSE PART OF THE TRADEMARK REGISTRATION FEE IN 2026

Dear clients and friends,

I would like to draw your attention to the opening of the SME Fund refund scheme for 2026. Our focus is its  use to reimburse part of the fee paid for filing an application for trademark registration:  https://www.skylex.sk/registracia-ochrannej-znamky/ that is, the so-called  Voucher 2

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the maximum amount I can receive under Voucher 2 – that is, the voucher confirming that I have been granted the opportunity to apply for a refund after filing a trademark application?

SKYLEX: The maximum reimbursable cost of the application fee under Voucher 2 is EUR 700, up to a maximum of 75%. If you file one application with a basic fee of EUR 850, you will receive EUR 637.50 back; if the basic fee is EUR 900 for two classes, you will receive EUR 675 back; and for three classes, with a fee of EUR 1,050, you will receive EUR 700 back.

Can I use the voucher for two applications?

SKYLEX: Yes, but be careful. In total, the refund is limited to EUR 700 of the fee. Thus, if you pay EUR 900 in fees for each of two applications covering two classes, i.e. EUR 1,800 in fees, you will receive a total of EUR 700 back.

How long is Voucher 2 valid?

SKYLEX: 1 month, with the possibility of extension

Do I have to activate the refund under Voucher 2, or will the money be returned automatically?

SKYLEX: Activation is required.

Can I file the application first and then apply for Refund Voucher 2?

SKYLEX: No, this is not possible; you must apply before filing the application, and likewise, you must have a decision granting Voucher 2 before filing the application.

Does that mean that the SME Fund will automatically pay part of the fee when I file the application?

SKYLEX: No – the SME Fund operates as a refund scheme, which means that you pay the fee in full and then, after activating a valid, non-expired Voucher 2, the funds will be returned to you.
For any further questions about the procedures related to the refund scheme and how it can be used, please write to  skypalova@skylex.sk
